This collaboration between the University of Chicago and the City, slated for completion in 2013, will feature150,000 square feet of office space leased to the University, 440 parking spaces and approximately 80,000 square feet of retail space in addition to a new hotel. Construction is underway! Ellen Sahli, Director of Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago, will discuss the University’s work with the community on its latest developments, including the University’s Woodlawn Avenue Plan.

Bill Eager, Executive Director, Preservation of Affordable Housing, will give us a guided tour of Woodlawn Park, a redevelopment project that will create: attractive housing for all income levels, a walkable streetscape, urban recreation opportunities for children and support services for residents including job training, youth nutrition and safety programs.Caroline Ouwerkerk, Urban Network, University of Chicago, will provide a backdrop to the tour and discuss her research on community revitalization in the neighborhood.
