SECC Receives Illinois Violence Prevention Authority Grant to Establish New Programs in Woodlawn and Washington Park

Just last week, the SECC was awarded a grant from the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority to implement a new violence prevention program in Woodlawn and Washington Park.  The new program will emphasize engagement among small business owners and community leaders in the two communities through the creation of a Crime Prevention Task Force and Crime Watch.  Additionally, the SECC will use some of the funding to support beautification efforts in the business districts, specifically targeting empty storefronts.  We will keep you posted as we finalize program details and begin rolling out the program in Washington Park and Woodlawn.
