On Wednesday, September 19, the PNC Bank Hyde Park officially opened its doors at 5100 South Lake Park Ave. The official Grand Opening included a ribbon cutting reception for professionals, community leaders and local business owners.
Several members of the PNC Bank leadership team were present including Michael Bickers, Head of Retail Banking, Derrick Thomas, SVP Director – Advanced Data & Analytic Solutions, and Thurman “Tony” Smith, SVP – Community Development Banking.
Diane Burnham, Executive Director, South East Chicago Commission was invited to give the community welcome. Burnham recognized PNC Bank’s commitment and contributions of financial resources that support activations within the local business districts. The SECC assisted the branch with sourcing local vendors for catering and services for the Grand Opening occasion.

PNC Bank announce it would also support two scholarships for Hyde Park Academy High School students attending a college tour. Principal Antonio Ross was present to accept the awards and share details about the students excellent academic and leadership achievements.
PNC Bank commissioned Chicagoan, Lee Bey, to create photographs for the branch. Bey spoke briefly after an introduction by Perri Irmer, President and CEO of the DuSable Museum of African American History in Washington Park.
Bey is a former architecture critic with the Chicago Sun-Times, who also served as the first-ever vice president of planning, education and museum experience for the DuSable Museum of African American History. In addition to writing and radio efforts, Bey has focused on architectural photography.
The addition of the Hyde Park branch expands the banking options for individuals and businesses in the area and represents new job opportunities in the community. As of the date of this news, more than 140 Jobs were posted on Indeed.com, including opportunities for Relationship Bankers, Business Analytics Leads, Tellers, Branch Sales and Service, Operations Associates and Portfolio Analytics & Strategy Specialists.
