Three free music series in Hyde Park will keep us outside this summer. The Harper Court Summer Music Series started in June and takes place monthly on Thursday nights through September from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Harper court, 5235 s. Harper Ct. Hosted by Mario Smith and sponsored by the University of Chicago and The Silver Room.
July 10 will see The Midnight Sun, a 10-person band that performs covers of Funk and R&B tunes from the 1960s to today, and DJ Shazam Bangles
On August 7, Megan Mcneal, a Chicago singer of soul, jazz and R&B, will perform along with DJ Lady D.
The series will wrap up on September 4 with the 2nd Annual Hyde Park Best Steppers Contest and DJ Eric “ET” Taylor. For more information and to RSVP, visit harpercourtmusic.com.
Check out Jazz in the Court on Fridays each month through September as well. You and your friends can grab a bite to eat and enjoy an afternoon performance in Harper Court this summer. Performances run from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Lastly, don’t miss the 2025 season of the George Franklin Memorial Summer Sunday Concert Series, starting Sunday, July 13, and continuing every Sunday afternoon through August 17 from 4-6 p.m. at Nichols Park in Hyde Park – 1355 E. 53rd Street. The concerts are free.
