Hyde Park Farmers Market Receives Governor’s Proclamation for National Farmers Market Week
The Hyde Park Farmers Market is proud to share that we have received an official Proclamation from the Governor of Illinois recognizing National Farmers Market Week, celebrated this year from August 3–9, 2025.
This statewide recognition highlights the important role our market plays in providing access to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, serving as a community hub, and supporting small businesses and local farmers. Farmers markets don’t just happen—they are the result of strong community partnerships and collaboration.
Kicking Off the Week in Style
We launched National Farmers Market Week on Sunday, August 3rd, with special guests Joanie from the Illinois Farmers Market Association (ILFMA), Kathryn from the University of Illinois Extension and Master Gardeners, and Sarah from Compeer Financial. Earlier this year, we were awarded a grant to expand our Kids Corner specifically for National Farmers Market Week, making it even more meaningful to have our partners present for the celebration.
The day featured a SNAP and LinkMatch-friendly live cooking demo by J the Chef, who prepared a fresh and easy Peach Salsa recipe, as well as complimentary balloon art by Miss Make Believe that brought smiles to market-goers of all ages.
Closing Out the Celebration
We’ll wrap up National Farmers Market Week on Sunday, August 10, 2025, with a full day of fun including:
- Fitness activities from 12–1 PM
- Songs by Marsha’s Music at 10AM
- Fun giveaways like healthy eating coloring books, stickers, and gold medals for every participant
